Across a landscape of ashes and despair, the apocalypse has always inspired film makers, novelists, and painters. The fear surrounding global warming continues to feed futuristic twilight visions. With this candle, Ben Gorham, the founder of Byredo, worked on creating an unknown fragrance: a surprising perfume that had never been smelled before. And while the Apocalyptic perfume opens with an accord of burned iron and black raspberry, with each minute that passes, more scents begin to surface: oak moss, aged papyrus, and a chorus of dark wood and smoked birch, gently creating a charming sensation.
